Artist Statement
Professional artist, Jean Allemeier Boot, has been dedicated to printmaking since receiving her BFA in studio art from Aquinas College in 2008. Jean currently concentrates on intaglio and monotype printmaking processes. She particularly enjoys the medium’s ‘give and take’ quality, its surprises, and endless possibilities. Jean, self-employed as a fine artist, focuses on the landscape as her subject matter, and draws inspiration from trips to the U.K., travel to locations in the U.S., and from her own backyard.
Motivated by the shapes and shadows in nature to create a distinctive sense of place, she is also influenced by artists from the past, especially those of the 19th century Romantic landscape tradition. Jean’s prints have been accepted into regional, state, and international exhibitions. Her work is represented by LaFontsee Galleries in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
