“I use a Conrad E-31 etching press for relief printing. Previous to purchasing my Conrad press, I used a small tabletop press, hand-printed with a barren or printed at a local university.
Upon deciding to purchase a large press, I began researching companies that produced presses I had previously used as well as some unfamiliar press companies. I decided on Conrad because I had previously used a Conrad press, because of their reputation and because of the level of customization when ordering a press. I am extremely happy with the results. A member of the Conrad family helped me choose the best press for my needs and was available for updates throughout the production process.
The entire process of ordering and receiving my press was fantastic!”

Artist Statement
My name is David J. Taylor and I am a printmaker based in West Virginia. In addition to printmaking, I am an assemblage artist, drummer, gallery owner and work in the IT field.
I use a Conrad E-31 etching press. My preferred media is linoleum cut, but I also enjoy wood cut. I carve both right-handed and left-handed depending on the best angle for a cut. When relief printing, I remove the blankets from my press to have better pressure control for fine detail and consistency. Most of my work is produced from one block and is black and white or hand colored with watercolors. I work in various sizes from 4”x5” to 24”x24”.
My work is influenced by music/musicians, art history, nature and the macabre. I have carved and printed a number of Renaissance reproductions by such artists as Albrecht Durer and Hans Holbein. I enjoy carving detailed images and intricate patterns.
