“I have been a working artist for 60 years and have been making wood cut prints since I was 15 and I have worked on many presses big and small most were etching presses but I have also used a litho press. As a woodcut print maker I selected the Conrad Mono Etch because I was able to tailor make the press to suit my needs. I selected a 22 inch wide by 44 inch long bed. The long bed gives me more room to work directly on the print surface, I added a gearbox for increased pressure and ease of operation, the standard spoked wheel allows me to work both sides of the press, I also added the micrometers to insure even pressure and minimize any fade in the print. Everything about this Conrad Mono Etch has exceeded my needs and expectations, it has made my print making easier and more enjoyable as well as enabling me to increase the number of prints in an edition.”

Bio
I’ve been an artist all my life. The extensive high school shop and art instruction in Grand Rapids, Michigan educated me in the basics of leatherwork, woodblock printing, silkscreen, jewelry, and wood sculpture. I was able to start selling my work at that point.
I maintained art studies through my time in the army in Vietnam with photography and drawing.
Later, Cornish School of the Allied Arts accepted me as a student in Seattle. Then through an Antioch-affiliated program at Cold Mountain Institute on Cortes Island in B.C. I studied environmental design in construction.
In Vancouver, I continued studying art, and made a living as a jeweler. Eventually back in Seattle, I was hired as a professional jeweler, collaborating with jewelers from all over the world. After years of work, I became a master jeweler.
Since moving to Skagit County in 2007, my art focus has evolved to concentrating on woodcut prints.
Printmaking allows production of unique pieces, resulting in affordable art of high quality.
Currently, I am showing in three galleries and continue to enter juried shows.
